چکیده

Chemosensory (gustatory and olfactory) dysfunction contributes to obesity, but the association between body mass index (BMI) chemosensory are inconsistently reported. The present study included 4,390 subjects at a Smell Taste Clinic. Results suggested that both obesity class II group (BMI ≥ 35) underweight < 18.5) exhibited impaired taste function compared with normal weight (p .05). Comparing other groups, higher proportion of bitter identification (8.6%), showed salty (7.9%). When investigating differences for individual tastes, had BMI (t = 2.79, p .005) lower olfactory scores .05) those intact identification. Finally, reduced associated an increased (r −.04, .022). This correlation becomes more pronounced age (F 1.42, .001). Practical Application nonlinear maintaining gustatory is significance metabolism. In regulating appears be important than tastes.
